The Magic House

In future posts I will be describing a place I call The Magic House.  From the outside it appears like any other house in your neighborhood.  It might be the house next to yours!  In the summer, its A/C unit hums and rattles noisily, like all the others.  It has a neatly trimmed yard with a handful of trees and bushes... nothing fancy.  Ordinary windows, with blinds closed, look out upon the street.  It has a garage and front door like any other house, and a gate into the backyard that is equally unremarkable.  It is two stories, if that is what your neighborhood has.  There is absolutely nothing to set it apart from any modern day home.

But you see, it's what is on the inside that counts.  Open the door, be made welcome inside, and come explore the wonders within.  You never know what adventures you might have, or what delights you might find!

Joy in the Sky

Thunderstorms are a glimpse of heaven.  Powerful and mighty voices, singing across the vast and echoing spaces, too wide and ever-reaching to grasp.  Music raised in songs of praise, each voice different than the last, with rhythms bouncing back and forth, lifted high, so high above!  Flashes of brilliance, dancing joy across the sky, too beautiful for the heart to behold, drawing forth a gasp at the aching desire to be a part of it all.  It calls to me, it sings to me, it beckons and entices, promises of what is to come, what there is to strive for, what there is to be gained.  That endless grace, that limitless cry, that unending wrench of a heart bursting with joyfulness that cannot be contained within sight and sound and touch.  Something that reaches beyond the senses to touch the very soul, so that I can sing with those great voices, so that I can dance with that light, so that I can roll my gladness across the sky with great exultation of spirit, to follow it beyond the horizon to waits beyond.

Sacrifice

Sometimes it's worth the pain
To do what shouldn't be done.
Sometimes it's worth the loss
to suffer without complaining.
Sometimes it's worth the agony
To open yourself to deep distress.
Sometimes it's worth the effort
To give of yourself, to drain yourself dry
Because of love for another.
